David Vélez is an artist that explores the relation of the musical, sculptural and architectural perceptions of the quotidian life by working with different media such as sound compositions, sound installations and sculptures. The catastrophe is a common subject in his work where he articulates a series of questions and reflections towards the finite and ephemeral nature of our existence.
Since 2005 David Velez has published his works on labels around the world and has presented his work on different exhibitions and festivals in the United States and Colombia.
David just finished his Master in Fine Arts in the Universidad Nacional de Colombia where he explored the sound composition beyond the acousmatic presentation.
On 2009 David co-founded the label Impulsive Habitat which focuses on the publication of sound compositions based on recordings, and on 2011 founded the journal The Field Reporter which reviews sound compositions and discusses the practice and processes behind them.
