Echomusic is a net label focusing on contemporary audio, from field recordings to noise and from free improvisation to drones and everything in between.
The label was releasing limited edition CD-Rs since 2004 but moved to cyberspace in the beginning of 2012. It was not an easy decision but it seems that the “dematerialization” of music is upon us. Don’t get me wrong, I love CDs, CD-Rs, tapes and vinyl however it seems like once again we perceive music as an abstract phenomenon and the role of the hand-held format is reevaluated.
I’m shifting to “www” because I want to explore and comprehend this new situation. Without getting too political or philosophical, my aim is to put some absurd, mysterious and challenging music “out there”, making it available through a label that will, hopefully, make an impact in public memory.
